Avli in Bochum

A gigantic restaurant. My family and I visited it in 2007 and we still love it. We are looking forward to the next time.

Was eating there for the first time. Always my pleasure. Friendly service, a cozy atmosphere and my food was delicious.

Fish are so stale

The atmosphere in the small yard is great, even if it is rainy, because of the heating equipment, it will feel very comfortable. The waiters are very responsive, and they all look happy. I ordered an appetizer platter and a tomato shark fin, which was an interesting combination, and served with soft bread. It was an appetizer for autumn and winter. The fried food is very tasty, it has the warmth of being freshly cooked, and the skin is crispy and retains the original taste of seafood. It is a restaurant worth recommending friends to gather for a small gathering.

A Greek restaurant as it should be. With a selected menu, a very nice ambience, delicious food and polite and unobtrusive service. We'd love to come back.

Microwave food and very small portions. For the price an absolute cheek. We went for a doner meal afterwards. None of us could understand the positive reviews.

My husband and I also think the prices are completely fair. The inn is very easy to get to! The convenient transport connections make a visit quick and easy. I think the selection is broad and so far whatever I have been served in front of me has always tasted great. Very brisk and polite service. I think that the entire restaurant staff did a very good job there.

Like on vacation. The Taverna Avli looks very inconspicuous at first. As soon as you step into the courtyard, you immediately feel like you're on vacation. The courtyard and the restaurant remind me of a nice restaurant on vacation in Greece. In summer, live Greek music is usually played outside, which completes the feeling. The food is excellent with a wide variety of classic Greek dishes (don't eat gyros). The fish is a poem here and always belongs on my plate. What you have to emphasize is the excellent service! You immediately feel welcome and, even on your first visit, you are received as if you were a regular guest. The staff really try hard and are very courteous without being intrusive, so that you can spend a whole evening there and completely forget the time. For me the Taverna Avli is always worth a trip and a real insider tip for everyone who wants to dive into the culinary diversity of Greece.

We ate here with four people on a Saturday night. A telephone reservation was possible without any problems. The restaurant is very inviting. The dishes were all very tasty and the service was very courteous. We will definitely come back. It seems that the restaurant is also suitable for larger groups.

Unfriendly service Drinks were popped on the table, the menu was taken away, but food was not ordered. Even after 45 minutes no possibility to order food although three tables that came after me already got their food. No apology when paying for the drinks, although I told them what bothered me. Another waiter was even sent to collect the complaint and the waiter in charge hid behind the counter. I've never seen anything like this before

The food is really good but the service isnt. The waiters were really rude when we visit the place, even with reservation. They kinda ignored our table. We understand that food takes time to be prepared but entrées took long and drinks were slow. A lot of patience for a good food.

Very tasty, super fresh! Were eating there for the first time yesterday. The backyard in which the food is served outside is quiet and beautiful, although you are right in the city center. The food was so delicious that unfortunately we forgot to take a photo before eating the starter. The main course was also delicious, the service is nice and although it rained a lot in between, we stayed dry thanks to the extra large umbrellas and an electric roof.

FOOD & DRINKS This is one of the Greek restaurants that don't offer Gyro. Instead the focus is more on meat & seafood dishes. We ordered several seafood items and a few meat appetizer. To top it off I wanted to try their Moussaka. To make it simple, everything tasted fresh with the exception of the Moussaka which isn't a surprise. Usually the Moussaka is baked beforehand, sometimes even one day before, then sliced and reheated per order. The flavor profile of the dishes aren't really spectacular but rather settle and simple. The meat in some dishes was a bit dry. SERVICE The owner is a real character who likes to joke with his regular customers or if you joke around with him. We were here on a very busy day but service was still friendly and didn't let us wait for too long. ATMOSPHERE If you come here definitely reserve a table in the outside patio on a sunny day. Sitting there almost makes you feel as if you were dining at a restaurant in Greece. RATING Four stars for a solid performance. As for the culinary journey nothing outstanding but a little gem if you want to escape the city feel.

I like this place. I have been here several times and always I was satisfied. It is a bit pricey though! The lamb is awesome and we'll cooked and there are a lot of options to select. Sea food, vegetarian and... . The staffs are nice and friendly too!
